Elizabeth Miller

Elizabeth Miller is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University with a focus on Substance Abuse Studies. Elizabeth then went on to pursue a Master in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver with a focus on Marriage & Family Therapy.

Elizabeth has worked in Aspen and the surrounding areas for a remarkable 30+ years, holding positions such as Executive Director, Program Consultant, Program Coordinator, group and individual therapist, Certified Pillar Guide at local agencies and non-profits such as Aspen Substance Awareness Project (ASAP), The Buddy Program, Extreme Sports Camp for Autism and Reimagine. Elizabeth has been a public speaker and trainer in the fields of mental illness, compassion fatigue, communication skills, substance abuse and suicide prevention, intervention and treatment and eating disorders. She has served on the board of the Aspen Youth Center and the Community Mental Health Planning Committee for Pitkin County.

Elizabeth's most recent work at a local community mental health agency in Aspen included working as a Crisis Interventionist, and developing and implementing the Home-Based and Community-Based therapeutic program while working closely with other local community partners. Elizabeth is experienced in treating children, adolescents, adults, and families with mood disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, complicated grief, eating disorders, relationship issues and parent support and education. Elizabeth worked as a counselor for Pathfinders a psychosocial support program for over 10 years providing individual and group therapy to cancer and chronically ill patients, caregivers, and grief and loss groups to both teens and adults.

In 2019, Elizabeth started a group counseling practice, Aspen Alliance Counseling with another colleague, Charlotte Margulies. At Aspen Alliance Counseling we believe very strongly in the power of collaboration and the benefits of a strong therapeutic relationship, in which we walk this journey with you. We seek to support those that we work with by addressing issues and challenges that may be coming up in multiple arenas and involving whomever may be helpful to support your growth and success. By supporting the whole system in achieving growth, those that we work with are able to find true, fulfilling, and sustainable success.

Elizabeth is currently working towards obtaining Licensure in Colorado to become one of the first psilocybin/natural medicine facilitators allowed to practice psilocybin services for mental health treatments in Colorado.

What brought us to this valley

Flew to Aspen with a round trip ticket in December of 1989 to see a "guy" and never left. He didn't last but I did and that was almost 35 years ago.
